I see questions about Tailwind Tribes over and over again in Facebook groups for small businesses: What are they? How do you use them? How can they benefit your business?
What is Tailwind?
Tailwind is a Pinterest and Instagram scheduling & analytics platform that offers:
- Optimal smart schedule time slots to maximize best exposure to your audience
- Tailwind Tribes, which allow you to discover new content and share your own with a niche-related audience
- ‘Set it and Forget it’ scheduling—allowing you to schedule out content weeks or months in advance, maintaining an active Pinterest account
- Instagram scheduler with notifications to post live
- Analytics about active boards, pin frequency from your domain, and more…
I use this tool EVERYDAY with multiple clients and I think it is absolutely vital for succeeding on Pinterest as a small business. On this post, I cover how to set up your Tailwind account:

What are Tailwind Tribes?
Tailwind Tribes are small niche-related groups with the Tailwind dashboard that allow you to add your pins and schedule pins from others with the group. You are meeting and growing with other Pinterest marketers! You can find Tribes easily in the Tailwind Dashboard (picture below).
Here is a good article about tribes from Tailwind.

Why are they effective?
By joining Tailwind Tribes, you are connecting with niche-related and hopefully active Tailwind or Pinterest users who are interested in sharing high-quality related content on their boards. You can rapidly promote your latest product or blog posts as well as quickly find content to schedule into your Tailwind smart queue. It’s a win-win for all! Group boards on Pinterest are great, but this puts the new pin right in front of the face of the scheduler, therefore getting your content out quicker and hopefully leading to virality!
How can you find tribes to join?
I am starting a new tribe for Creative Entrepreneurs, so you can join that here. Tailwind Tribes are free to use, so take advantage of this powerful tool for growing your small business!
Join my Creative Entrepreneurs Tribe!
Some tribes are better than others—you’ll discover quickly which are good fits for you and which are not. It is super easy to leave them, so feel free to do so if they aren’t benefiting your Pinterest marketing strategy. I try to join 5 or so for new clients and then, if necessary, leave the ones that don’t have good results for my clients’ businesses. A super savvy tip is to create a private tribe with other business owners you trust so that you can support each other growing together.
